Recently, a meeting was held at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta involving several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet to discuss the situation of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. The main agenda of the meeting was focused on the directive from Prabowo for ministers to come up with solutions for the affected workers. Key attendees included Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
During the meeting, Prasetyo stressed the president’s deep concern for the workers and underscored the urgency in resolving the issues that arose after PT Sritex declared bankruptcy in October 2024. The primary objective is to reemploy approximately 8,000 employees within the textile sector under a new working arrangement. Minister Yassierli praised the curator’s efforts to pave the way for former Sritex employees to potentially return to work within the next two weeks.
Additionally, Prabowo’s unwavering commitment to provide support and guidance is anticipated to bring much-needed relief to PT Sritex employees impacted by the mass layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively advocating for the rights of PT Sritex Group workers to ensure they receive proper layoff compensation and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of selecting investors to manage Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, ultimately leading to the reemployment of the laid-off workers. This strategic move aims to bring stability to the affected employees and offer a viable solution to their current predicament.
