President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, visited Sentosa Funeral Home at RSPAD Gatot Subroto, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (July 30) to pay his final respects to the late Kwik Kian Gie—a prominent economist and respected national statesman. Upon his arrival, President Prabowo was welcomed by the relatives and family of Kwik Kian Gie before proceeding to pay his respects to the deceased. Kwik Kian Gie, known for his advocacy of Pancasila-based economics, passed away at the age of 90 on Monday evening, July 28, 2025. Prabowo regarded Kwik not only as an esteemed economist but also as a friend and mentor who provided invaluable insights for the country’s development. Reflecting on their personal bond, Prabowo emphasized the meaningful advice and perspectives Kwik had shared over the years. Despite his illness, Kwik remained actively engaged and continued to offer suggestions and thoughts to the President through messages. Prabowo’s visit to the funeral home was a gesture of respect and gratitude toward Kwik Kian Gie’s significant contributions to Indonesia’s development.
