French President Emmanuel Macron recently paid a visit to Indonesia, underscoring the close and meaningful partnership between the two nations. Macron emphasized that the bond between Indonesia and France goes beyond mere symbolism, representing a tangible and robust collaboration. President Prabowo Subianto warmly welcomed Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta during his visit.

Macron expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. He stressed the significance of cooperation in various areas including the economy, technology, security, and culture.

The diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France have been upheld for 75 years, with notable advancements made in the past decade. Macron acknowledged Indonesia’s pivotal role in upholding regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and applauded the progress in bilateral defense collaboration, renewable energy, transportation, and the energy transition agenda.

Cultural cooperation was also a key point of focus for Macron, with a cultural agreement set to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbolic gesture of the deepening friendship between the two countries. Macron expressed appreciation to President Prabowo for the warm hospitality and voiced optimism for continued collaborative efforts during his two-day official visit to Indonesia.
